1890 Rylatt Estate - 133 years ago today
Today, 133 years ago, on Saturday, 29 March 1890, the Rylatt Estate in Indooroopilly was being advertised for sale on the ground.
1890 Rylatt Estate - Indooroopilly, Brisbane
The Rylatt Estate was advertised in the local papers on the days leading up to the sale.
Opposite the State School and the Indooroopilly Township Estate.
Being on the crest of the hill, the views are simply grand, extending as far as the borders of New South Wales and the Main Range.
Frequent Train accommodation - cheaper than trams.
The late disasterous flood has shown to many people that to be safe they must live on highland, and this property has only to be seen to be appreciated.
The Rylatt Estate covers Moggill Road, Rylatt Street and Shirley Street.
Check out the 1936 Aerial view of the Rylatt Estate.

We lived on the corner of Rylatt Street and Moggill Road, Indooroopilly for 5 years approximately from 1960 till 1964. The corner block fronting Moggill Road was a General Store and home. Behind that building and included in the block was a large workshop being used by an iron worker/welder making decorative wrought iron railings. Prior to that it had been a bakery.
These buildings were sold and pulled down a few decades after my parents had sold it and home units that still stand were built on the corner
On the opposite corner of Rylatt Street was St Peters Anglican Church. This is now a childcare centre I believe.
Cheers

PS I am interested in buying a print of this map.
