Magnificent Exhibits at Brisbane Show - 1946

Brisbane's famous agricultural show was recently opened by the Duke of Gloucester, who with the Duchess has been touring the state and seeing a great deal of the vast resources of Queensland.
As in Britain, the weather had gone a bit wrong, but in Brisbane it was summer weather in winter they were having.
Though the Brisbane Exhibition had not been held during several war years, breeders have maintained the first-class standard.
Incidentally, it looks as if they have got the answer to petrol rationing out there.
Once again stockmen were showing amazing exhibits. Pedigree prize winners who seem to take their own importance for granted.
Brisbane laid on the ever-popular wood chopping contest. Gosh it fairly makes your toes tingle watching that man in socks does not it.
The heat was a very close thing, the winner by a split second being on the far side, I think.
Another famous feature of the show is the jumping. Nothing spectacular perhaps, but a very pleasing event all the same.
The revival of the Brisbane Show is one more sign that in some parts of the world at any rate, things are getting back to normal.
